Topic: American Civil War

The American Civil War, lasting from 1861 to 1865, was fought between the northern states loyal to the federal government and the southern states that had seceded to form the Confederate States of America. It began with the secession of 11 southern states in response to the election of Abraham Lincoln, which ignited fears over the restriction of slavery in southern states. The conflict recorded the greatest number of casualties in American military history, with over 620,000 combatants dead and an untold number in civilian losses, and ended with the Southern states surrendering after the loss of their capital in Richmond and the defeat of their commander, Robert E. Lee.

In this crisis committee, delegates will take on portfolios of the various stakeholders within the two warring factions. Take actions that impact the scenario the council faces and steer your faction towards victory. Control the armies of a young nation, enact policies that will allow your side to prosper, and sway the hearts and mind of a people divided. Engage in espionage and sabotage, political trickery, and whatever measures to achieve your portfolio’s goals. You are only limited by your imagination and creativity to decide the fate of this fledgling country in a tumultuous period.
