Welcome to the 15th Edition of NTUMUN!

Letter from the Secretary-General, NTUMUN 2021

Dear Delegates, Chairpersons, Faculty Advisors, and Distinguished Guests

On behalf of the Secretariat and the Organizing Committee, it is my distinct pleasure and honour to invite you to the 15th annual Nanyang Technological University Model United Nations Conference. This year, after carefully considering the impact of COVID-19 around the world, NTUMUN will be held virtually for the first time.

Since our first conference in 2006, NTUMUN has grown to be the largest and most prestigious model united nations conference in Singapore and across Southeast Asia. Our mission is to construct a platform for engaging young minds to be global leaders. In line with this, NTUMUN 2021 introduces 8 councils along with the International Press. At NTUMUN, we sincerely uphold the values of cooperation, teamwork and engagement. We strive to bring to you a global conference that advocates high academic standards, cooperative dialogue and constructive diplomacy. The conference will give students the opportunity to negotiate, discuss and vote on resolutions addressing a wide range of topics. NTUMUN strives to set itself apart by initiating conversations that are less spoken about. We present to you a wide range of topics - from traditional conversations such as pandemic management, maritime movement of refugees to the treatment of sexual minorities, and militarization of space. Every delegate can find a platform to talk about the international issues that they are most passionate about.

As these are unprecedented times, NTUMUN and Nanyang Technology University are working together to deliver a conference that maximizes the safety and wellbeing of all our participants. We are in the midst of discussions in order to augment the virtual conference in such a way as to maintain the traditional experience of the delegates while also balancing the COVID-19 issues. NTUMUN 2021 will be held with the same standards and excellent quality that our participating delegates and schools have known for so many years. While we expect to return to the traditional MUN conference in 2022, we are incredibly excited about the concept of our virtual conference, which will take place from March 19th to 21st, 2021.

In addition to our flagship conference, the NTUMUN team is proud to inform you that we have a number of virtual events lined up to engage the youth in international discourse. So, please stay tuned to our website and social media accounts for updates.
